After an enormous weekend at Splendour in the Grass, I was ready to murder for a great meal, a warm sit down, some Sangria and the continuation of top company. In St Elmo's I found all that I needed - except for the Sangria, odd in a tapas joint, no? But the positive from this was that it forced me to order Port, something I've never actually done in a restaurant and it was the golden ticket to a warm fuzzy glow.

So the labne balls ordered, I grabbed also some garlic mushrooms and a side of mash with truffle oil. It was a beautiful comfort meal, high class at the same time. Finished off with a glass of champagne, it was the perfect quality end to a chaotic weekend of gumboots and gozleme. Cosy culinary craftsmanship. read less

A great new addition to the Byron food scene. The owners of the local coffee/breakfast hot spot the Bay Leaf have expanded there repertoire with the opening of St Elmos wine and tapas bar in the recently completed and often controversial rapunzel building. The setting is modern cosmopolitan and you would be lucky to snare yourself a bar stool or a table on a good night.

So depending on what you’re after…a few wines and tapas with friends around the communal table on a Friday ... read more night or a sit down 3 course dinner inside or out St Elmos accommodate either extremely well. The food, wine list and service are all top shelf.

Mix this with chilled beats and a solid local following…no wonder I am finding myself a regular. read less
