This is an unassuming eatery, only open in the late afternoon / early evenings, about 500 metres from the main restaurant / cafe precinct in Brunswick Heads. Though it's on the main street, Tweed Street, blink and you'll miss it as you drive past. However 'Gringo's' is well worth looking out for. They refresh the palate and satisfy the demands of the saltiness accumulated by a day spent at the beach. The fact that the food is served in a charming well-greened courtyard is an added bonus. Apart from being light and tasty, the dishes lend themselves to being shared too. We had everything put in the middle of the table and enthusiastically piled in. My wife and I particularly liked the seafood (prawns and fish). Overall dining at 'Gringo's' is almost a perfect conclusion to a summer's day at the beach. read less

I came across this great little Mexican restaurant by chance ,nice outside garden setting was very nice in the late afternoon very relaxing atmosphere ,nice friendly staff great selection of Mexican food all very fresh as proclaimed and at a very reasonably cost . If you are in Brunswick heads looking for an alternative to the pub give Gringos fresh mex a try. We just love it and have made it a new tradition whenever we are in the area. It has a lovely relaxed covered garden for outdoor dinning or you can sit inside on the comfy couch. The kids are always are excited to get the chicken Nachos and my husband can not go past the beef enchilada, My favorite is the Baja Tacos. what a refreshing find! this place has it all. We had a wonderfully tasty meal out in their private garden. i started with a couple chicken empanadas,followed by a chili con carne burrito with guacamole and jalapenos.a beautiful blend of flavours and very fresh. the meals are served with beans, rice and a nice bit of greens, so i was feeling kind-of full but found it hard to resist the sound of "chili chocolate ganache",proved to be a awesome way to finish off my Mexican experience. all said ... read more and done,with the tasteful choice of Latin music and all surrounds i could easily envision being in some small town in Mexico. We were very impressed with this eatery. It's more than a cafe but not a restaurant, more a destination that provides light tasty food and plenty of it for hungry people after a day at the beach.

Gringo's is unmistakably Mexican in orientation, but that is incidental to the fact that the food we enjoyed pressed all the right buttons in terms of freshness, taste, and accessibility: we imagined that this is what home cooking is like in Mexico. The four of us shared our meals, enjoying appetizers, mains and desserts. Stand-out items were the chicken empanadas, the mixed seared seafood and the lime and toasted coconut ice cream. Brunswick Heads is our annual holiday destination and we will certainly return to this cheerful venue next year. read less
